Each ingredient in this superfood smoothie recipe has different beneficial properties, however they all have one thing in common – they contain powerful antioxidants which may help your body to neutralise free radicals and prevent cell damage. Yes, the term ‘superfood’ gets thrown around a lot nowadays – but we truly believe that this breakfast smoothie recipe is deserving of the title – and we’ll tell you why.

To prove our point, let’s jump into the ingredients in our berry smoothie recipe. Blueberries aren’t just a great tasting snack, they’re also an antioxidant superstar – making this a fantastic anti-inflammatory smoothie for anyone looking to level-up their overall health or beat a chronic disease. Not only that, but they are brilliant providers of Vitamin C and potassium, too, making this banana smoothie a force to be reckoned with. The vitamins and minerals found in this blueberry smoothie recipe may help to reduce your risk of cancer and heart disease, while also helping you fight fatigue, muscle cramps and even heart rhythm problems. Food really is medicine!

Next up, the ones people love to hate – kale and spinach. Are you looking to increase the leafy greens in your diet, but struggle with the taste and texture? Good news –  we found this spinach and kale smoothie to taste purely of fruit and honey, making this a sweet healthy smoothie for children and even the pickiest of eaters – this works great if you’re trying to sneak some more greens into yours or your child’s diet. The hidden veg will be working behind-the-scenes to provide you with vitamins A, K, B6, calcium, potassium, folate and Vitamin C (and believe it or not, they’re just a few of the nutrients found in the leafy favourites!).

Vitamin C is contained throughout this almond butter smoothie. Not only will your heart and immune system thank you for the help, but your blood will too. In fact, Vitamin C can help to boost your antioxidant levels, lower your blood pressure, protect against gout and – as a neuromodulator – even reduce the risk of dementia. Such big health benefits from such a small, simple smoothie!

Flax seeds are now very much commonplace on most supermarket health shelves  – but the question is what do they actually do for us? The flax seeds in this fresh fruit smoothie are rich in the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, lignans and fibre – all of which have been found to have fantastic health benefits. Although tiny in appearance they actually make this milk smoothie one that may improve digestive health and bad cholesterol!

It’s crazy to think that all of these incredible health benefits come from one antioxidant smoothie recipe – but the proof is in the pudding. Furthermore, the milk, banana and almond butter in this quick and easy smoothie recipe may help keep you fuller for longer –  so you can get on with doing what you do best. We hope you love it!
