This superfood antioxidant smoothie is a nutritional powerhouse filled with a heap of different, delicious ingredients. If you’re on the hunt for a smoothie to lower blood pressure, or a smoothie to boost the immune system (to name but a few of the benefits of this excellent antioxidant drink), then ingredients such as kale and spinach (considered “heart-healthy” foods) may certainly help!

This healthy smoothie recipe is absolutely packed full of antioxidants from every single ingredient! We hear the word ‘antioxidants’ every day – in adverts, articles, and recipes like this one – but what do they actually do? Well, antioxidants are molecules that fight free radicals in your body. Free radicals are linked to several illnesses, including diabetes, cancer and heart disease – but antioxidants are the body’s defence against these free radicals! So, not only is this easy smoothie recipe a treat for the taste buds, it may well be a great smoothie for better immunity against those nasty illnesses.

Vitamin C is one of the predominant nutrients in this fresh fruit smoothie recipe. It can be found in the cranberries, lychees, pear, kale AND spinach! Vitamin C plays a vital role in your body, acting as an antioxidant helping protect cells from the damage of free radicals we mentioned above. In fact, this is also a fantastic smoothie for heart health as Vitamin C has been found to help lower your risk of heart disease and other chronic illness, such as gout.

Did you know that this drink would also be a good addition to your diet if you’re looking for a smoothie to boost iron levels? The kale, spinach and almond butter in this iron rich smoothie could help you to hit your recommended daily allowance (RDA) of nutrition . Interestingly, the fact this is a smoothie high in vitamin C means it may help improve iron absorption in your diet. This is especially worth considering if most of your iron intake is from plant-based foods. Vitamin C may also help convert poorly absorbed iron into a form that’s easier for your body to absorb. Win win!

Also found in this tasty smoothie recipe are vitamins A, B2, B6, E, and K! Vitamin A means that this may be on the list of best smoothies for dry skin and even dry eyes.

To add even more nutrition to this healthy green smoothie’s impressive list, the leafy greens and almond butter make this a smoothie high in magnesium too. Magnesium is vital in the body, responsible for regulating muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels and blood pressure, as well as aiding in the creation of protein, bone and DNA. This could, therefore, be a great smoothie for lowering blood sugar levels.

So, if we haven’t managed to convince you by now that this tasty green smoothie is a winner – why don’t you give it a go for yourself? Let us know what you think!
