This amazingly simple, yet incredibly delicious, mixed-berry smoothie is both sweet and nutritious – and ideal for small helpers as it is so easy to create!

Packed with vitamins, minerals and nutrients, it’ll provide a burst of energy (that isn’t junk) and keeps the kids occupied for at least 10 minutes! A deep, rich purple colour – it looks absolutely fantastic and tastes even better!

Berries also provide a huge number of health benefits, including for your heart and skin. By including them in your little one’s diet on a regular basis, in whatever way you can, you can not only improve their health in an interesting and hands-on way, but also ensure that by the time they reach adulthood consuming berries as part of their diet has become natural and routine. They also contain polyphenols, which are a group of plant-based antioxidants that are amazingly good at protecting the cells in your body from damage. Polyphenols also help to reduce muscle pain and inflammation, great for your little sportspeople!

Quite simply, this brilliant smoothie is an easy blend of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries – topped up with whole milk and a few ice cubes.

Frozen mixed berries also work great and will give a thicker texture like a milkshake! Water down with the milk to your preference.

We use one small handful of each berry and around 450ml of milk to produce two good-sized glasses.

Enjoy!

Top tip: Why not sprinkle in a few walnuts (a great source of the plant form of Omega-3) for some added flavour? They work so well with the berries!
